Battery law information
The Battery Act regulates the return of batteries and rechargeable batteries for retailers. Batteries and rechargeable batteries may not be disposed of with general waste; therefore, as a consumer, you are legally obligated to return them. Used batteries and rechargeable batteries may contain harmful substances that, if not disposed of properly, can harm health and the environment.
As a consumer, you have the option of returning such batteries and rechargeable batteries to a public collection point, a retailer, or directly to us. If you decide to send the batteries/rechargeable batteries to us, please ensure that the shipment is sufficiently stamped and that the batteries/rechargeable batteries are only returned in normal household quantities.
Batteries/accumulators containing harmful substances are marked with the following warnings/symbols, which indicate that disposal in household waste is prohibited:
Cd: Cadmium - Battery/accumulator contains this pollutant
Hg: Mercury - Battery/accumulator contains this pollutant
Pb: Lead - battery contains this pollutant
